The Contemporary Music Concerts (CMC) integrate their program into the cultural scene of La Chaux-de-Fonds, aiming to perpetuate, renew, and sharpen the spirit of innovation, curiosity, and risk-taking. In the 1970s, renowned avant-garde composers like Berio, Boulez, and Xenakis performed in the city. Refounded in 1995, the CMC co-launched the biennial festival "Les Amplitudes" in 2003, dedicated to a multidisciplinary composer. The CMC supports local and guest contemporary music projects and highlights the diversity of contemporary music, blending genres like performance, electro-acoustic music, and sound poetry. In partnership with Swiss universities, the CMC also develops a research platform exploring sound phenomena.
