"Music is an art form that is constantly evolving and adapting to new trends and technologies. The rules and laws of musical composition are there to be considered, revised, replaced or eliminated as appropriate."
This is the vision of Enno Poppe, arguably one of the most innovative composers of our time. His distinctive style has been described as unconventional, evolving and even bold.
The substantial work, composed in several stages over a period of six years, features a sophisticated structure of variations and repetitions. The composer has imagined a network of sound derivations, with the result that Speicher's music is multiplied through variable dimensions. All the elements of the work are always coherently related, with everything from an isolated sound to an entire movement recognizable. For this exceptional programme, the NEC is pleased to share the stage with the Ensemble Proton from Bern, conducted by the master himself.
